After 48 years as an Optician, Roland Dauplaise has seen a lot of things change.
One thing hasn’t changed: his desire to always help people the best that he can.
Roland married his high school sweetheart when he was 19 years old and needed a career to support his young bride and future family. After an introduction to the world of lens fabrication at McLeod Optical in Warwick, Roland began to consider a career as a licensed Optician. He liked the idea of making eyeglasses and helping people.
At this young age, Roland took a course in the Theory of Optics and passed the Rhode Island State Opticians test. At the time of his licensure, Roland was the youngest individual in Rhode Island to hold an Optician’s license.
Roland spent his career in Rhode Island and used his skills in both fabrication and dispensing to create a state-of-the-art optical lab. His technical skills won him the admiration of his patients. His interpersonal skills won him their friendship. Roland became entrenched in his community as an active member of his church, a local vocalist, and someone who could “make people see better”.
Roland’s involvement also extended to his professional associations. He was an active member of the Rhode Island Opticians’ Association and served as their secretary.
Always acting as a professional, Roland prides himself on only recommending products based on medical need. His patients trust his advice because they know he will only recommend the best.
